Traditional foods
In the making, as needed,
People keep arriving
They need to be feeded,
Several sessions of cooking
More mouths to be filled,
Ya better eat for these hosts
Or you might be killed.

They offer it once
Then again and again,
It’s a cultural thing
When you visit their den,
Treat the outsider as royalty
Just stuff him with food,
Compared to rest of us
He’s just a skinny foreign dude.

They had a meal at two-thirty
And another at seven,
The most of them watching
Bollywood movies from heaven,
With chatter and laughing
And giggles at me,
When I turned down the second dinner
“Folks, I was full, back at three”.

We had a great time visiting
The food was delicious,
Perhaps the next time, I’ll fast
To make my eating more ambitious.
